Rams Not Rushing to Replace Injured Davante Adams

The Los Angeles Rams are not currently planning to sign an outside wide receiver despite a significant injury to Davante Adams, according to head coach Sean McVay. Adams is expected to miss between six to ten weeks due to a semitendinosus rupture.

"That’s not something that we’ve talked about right now," McVay stated. "We’ve got some depth on our roster. Maybe we talked about the practice squad, but not anything external."

Adams and Puka Nacua formed a prominent wide receiver duo last season. Nacua himself missed two games earlier this season due to a groin injury. The injury to Adams occurred during the Rams' final drive in their recent loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford expressed confidence in the team's existing depth, specifically mentioning second-year receiver Konata Mumpfield as a player who could see increased opportunities. "Obviously with Tae going down, everybody’s going to get more opportunities," Stafford said. "He’s a guy that has had some chances and done a nice job with them. He’s going to continue to grow. He’s, again, young in his journey as an player in the NFL. He’s a really talented kid."

The Rams are also dealing with other significant injuries. Nose tackle Poona Ford and kicker Blake Grupe will be out for the remainder of the season with a ruptured triceps and torn ACL, respectively. Additionally, star defensive end Kobie Turner will be sidelined for four to six weeks with a groin injury.

Adams is in a contract year, with his current two-year, $44 million contract set to expire after this season. He signed with the Rams in March 2025.
