Rams Face Eagles in Week 4 Amidst Early-Season Struggles

The Los Angeles Rams (1-2) and Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) are set to clash in Week 4 of the NFL season, with both teams looking to overcome early-season inconsistencies.

The Rams, despite opening the season as Super Bowl favorites, have struggled to meet expectations. Injuries have played a role, with wide receiver Puka Nacua missing time due to a hip/groin injury. Nacua is expected to return for the Eagles game, which should provide a boost to the Rams' offense, even if he isn't at full strength. Quarterback Matthew Stafford leads the Rams, who aim to avoid a winless streak after their recent performances.

The Eagles, while holding a better record, have also exhibited shaky play. Their two victories were narrow, including a close win against the Washington Commanders in Week 1 and a late comeback against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. Concerns have been raised about the Eagles' offensive line, which ranks 20th in Run Block Win Rate, leading to frequent third-and-long situations. Defensively, the Eagles' pass rush has struggled, ranking 29th in sacks.

Oddsmakers initially favored the Rams by 2.5 points for this matchup, but the line has since moved to Rams -3. The total points projection has also decreased from 46 to 43.5.

Coaching often plays a significant role after a loss, and Rams coach Sean McVay has a track record of success following defeats. This suggests the Rams may be well-prepared to contend on the road against the Eagles. The return of Nacua is anticipated to open up opportunities for other Rams offensive players, potentially forcing the Eagles to engage in a passing game.

"The Rams should have an easier time dealing with the Eagles’ defense than they did against the Broncos and will force Philly to keep up in the passing game," one analysis noted. "Sean McVay has been one of the most reliable coaches in the NFL after a loss, so I’ll take the Rams to cover on the road here."

The betting pick favors the Rams to cover the spread of -3.
