Ram Rescued After Getting Stuck in Concrete Pipe While Fleeing Ewes

Firefighters were called to Western Farm in Somerset to rescue a 97kg ram named Rambo, who had become stuck in a concrete pipe. The ram had apparently sought refuge in the pipe to escape from nine ewes who were pursuing him.

Bex Maynard, the owner of Western Farm, explained that the ram was likely taking a break from his "romantic duties" when the incident occurred. "To be fair, there are nine rather amorous ewes all competing for his undivided attention and a chap is entitled to a little peace and quiet occasionally," Maynard told The Sun.

Fire crews used chimney rods and ropes to carefully extract Rambo from the pipe, managing to slip a sheet beneath him to aid in his removal. Despite the lengthy rescue effort, Maynard noted that Rambo appeared unfazed by the ordeal.

"Judging by Rambo's expression, he emerged considerably less concerned by the whole episode than everyone else involved," she said. "We cannot thank the crews enough for coming out, taking such care of the daft bugger and getting him safely out."

Following the rescue, Maynard established a JustGiving page to raise £1,000 for two charities: the Fire Fighters Charity and the Farmers Charity, as a token of gratitude for the successful rescue.
