Stellantis, the parent company of Ram, is recalling more than 1.2 million vehicles due to a safety defect concerning the second-row seat belt buckle anchors. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall, which affects Ram 1500 models manufactured between 2019 and 2026. The issue arises from the potential improper installation of these anchors, which may not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and could lead to injuries in the event of an accident. The front seat belt anchors are not included in this recall.

The recall encompasses a total of 1,271,294 vehicles in the United States, with an additional 156,138 in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico, and 74,084 in other international markets. According to Stellantis, the company is aware of one injury potentially linked to the faulty seat belt anchors, though no fatalities have been reported.

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to take their trucks to a Ram dealer. Technicians will inspect the seat belt buckle anchors and reattach them to the vehicle's body structure as necessary, free of charge. Owners will receive notification letters by mail, expected to be sent out starting August 18, 2026. The recall number for this issue is 67D. Vehicle owners can also contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. A VIN search tool will be available on NHTSA.gov beginning August 6, 2026, allowing owners to check if their specific vehicle is part of the recall.

This is not the first recall for Chrysler this year. In an earlier action, the automaker recalled over 450,000 vehicles and more than 2,000 tow-trailer modules due to a brake light failure risk that could increase the chance of a crash. That recall involved 456,287 vehicles and 2,871 tow-trailer modules where faulty or improperly designed components could cause trailer brake lights to fail or lead to a complete loss of trailer braking function.
