A group of four masked individuals carried out a ram raid at Wetherby Services in Leeds on July 29, stealing an ATM and slot machines. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when a black Nissan Juke was driven into the service station.
Witnesses reported seeing the car being reversed inside the premises, with the occupants, described as wearing balaclavas, exiting the vehicle to target the machines. North Yorkshire Police stated that the gang attached a chain to a cash pay-out machine and used the car to pull it from the wall. The ATM also appeared to have been damaged during the incident.
One witness, Rupon Miah, described seeing the car ramming the ATM and then observed the four males, all wearing masks, raiding the slot machine area. He stated he saw them driving off with the ATM machine in the boot of their car with the boot open.
North Yorkshire Police recovered the vehicle, believed to be an older model Nissan Juke, in the Leeds area. The car had been set on fire, and the stolen cash machine was found inside. The force confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Authorities are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident, observed the Nissan Juke traveling between Wetherby and Leeds between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on July 29, or have any other information that could assist the investigation. Detectives are also seeking to identify and speak with three men who may have witnessed the incident and could possess relevant information, emphasizing that they are currently considered witnesses and not suspects.
