Raising Cane’s, the fast-food chain known for its fried chicken fingers, is embarking on a significant expansion in California, with plans to open more than 40 new restaurants in the state over the next few years. This expansion includes a push into more affluent suburban areas.
Three new Raising Cane’s locations are slated to open in the North Bay region this year. One of these will occupy the former site of Amy’s Drive Thru in Rohnert Park, a middle-class community in Sonoma County. Raising Cane’s signed the lease for the 4,098-square-foot space in March, shortly after Amy’s Drive Thru closed its doors after a decade of operation. Sonoma Magazine reported that the Rohnert Park location is expected to open in September 2027.
Another new restaurant is planned for Napa, an upscale city in wine country. Raising Cane's intends to take over a former KFC location at the South Napa Marketplace shopping center. The permit application for this 2,676-square-foot site is currently under review, with no opening timeline announced.
The third North Bay restaurant will be located in Vallejo, part of the Fairview at Northgate development. This 51.3-acre project will also feature a new Costco, which is scheduled to open in the fall. A timeline for the Vallejo Raising Cane’s opening has not yet been specified.
Founded nearly 30 years ago on the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge, Raising Cane’s recently celebrated the opening of its 1,000th restaurant in Hollywood. The chain has seen substantial sales growth, surpassing Wingstop for third place among fried chicken chains. In 2025, Raising Cane’s recorded $5.49 billion in sales, placing it behind Popeyes at $5.7 billion and Chick-fil-A at $23.9 billion.
