Raiders Quarterback Fernando Mendoza Launches Financial Literacy Series for Gen Z

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza has launched a new educational video series titled "Finance with Fernando," in partnership with US Bank. The series aims to offer a practical guide to financial literacy specifically for a younger, Gen Z audience.

Mendoza's initiative with US Bank began on April 7, when the two announced a partnership with the prospective 2026 NFL Draft member serving as "Chief Financial Playmaker." In a promotional advertisement, Mendoza stated, "I'm Fernando Mendoza, pro quarterback. But my true passion is fiscal responsibility."

The "Finance with Fernando" series will cover topics such as 401K contributions. As an incentive, subscribers will have the chance to receive recommendations from Mendoza on LinkedIn. Mendoza has maintained an active presence on LinkedIn since his college years, notably updating his profile during his successful season at Indiana University, where he won the Heisman Trophy and led the team to a National Championship.

Mendoza was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the most recent NFL Draft. Prior to transferring to Indiana in 2025, he attended California for two years, where he reportedly maintained a 3.4 GPA. His involvement in public-facing advertisements has increased since the start of the NFL season, including a recent State Farm commercial that highlighted his personality.

Mendoza is currently the backup quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, learning behind veteran Kirk Cousins. His foray into financial education marks an expansion of his public profile beyond his athletic career.
