The Week 4 contest between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs achieved a record-breaking audience, drawing 28.4 million viewers on CBS. This figure makes it the most-watched NFL game of the current season and the most-watched Week 4 game across any network.
The thrilling 30-27 game between the two teams, both entering the matchup with undefeated 3-0 records, captivated a large audience. CBS reported that its NFL coverage is averaging 19.9 million viewers per game this season, marking a 9% increase in viewership.
The Kansas City Chiefs, considered Super Bowl contenders, are led by two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He has thrown for nine touchdowns against two interceptions and 1,037 yards, completing 64.1% of his passes this season.
The Las Vegas Raiders have also shown early success under new head coach Klint Kubiak. The team started the season 3-0 for the first time since 2021, the same year they last reached the postseason. Kubiak, who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, has implemented a new offense featuring quarterback Kirk Cousins and second-year running back Ashton Jeanty.
Despite throwing an interception in the final seconds of Sunday's game, Cousins has had a strong season, accumulating 1,026 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Tight end Brock Bowers has also become a significant contributor to the Raiders' offense since making his season debut two weeks ago. He is the team's second-leading receiver with 24 receptions for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
Jeanty has been a key element in the Raiders' offensive scheme, amassing 429 total yards through both rushing and receiving. The Raiders' defense has also seen improvement, holding opponents to an average of 21 points per game. Free agent acquisition linebacker Nakobe Dean has been a standout performer, tying for the league lead in forced fumbles with three, and contributing 1.5 sacks and 32 tackles.
