Former England and Premier League footballer Raheem Sterling has appeared in court to face charges stemming from a car crash in May. Sterling is accused of dangerous driving and possession of laughing gas, also known as 'hippy crack'.
Police were called to the M3 in Hampshire on May 28 following reports of a £270,000 Lamborghini swerving erratically. Footage appearing to show the vehicle crossing lanes while other cars maneuvered to avoid it emerged.
The driver was observed appearing to inhale from a balloon, a method associated with the consumption of laughing gas. Shortly after, the luxury vehicle reportedly crashed into the motorway barriers, leading to Sterling's arrest by Hampshire Police.
In addition to the driving and drug possession charges, Sterling faces a third charge of failing to supply a specimen after his arrest, according to police.
Sterling, 31, previously played for prominent Premier League clubs before his court appearance.
