The wife of singer Rag'n'Bone Man, Zoe Graham, has received a suspended prison sentence for causing serious injury by careless driving. Graham, 38, was driving at nearly 60 mph when her Range Rover struck the car of Samantha Keen, a single mother of three, in August 2023.
Graham was attempting to illegally overtake a line of traffic stopped behind a tractor on a road in East Sussex. The court heard that she crossed double white lines in her attempt to pass, failing to see Mrs. Keen's Ford C Max, which was attempting to turn right. The collision sent Mrs. Keen's vehicle spinning into a ditch.
Mrs. Keen sustained a broken ankle, severe soft tissue injuries, cuts and bruising to her face and head, and damage to her hip and leg. Her three children, who were in the car with her, also suffered cuts and bruises. Mrs. Keen, who had lost her husband to suicide the previous year, told paramedics she feared she would die and her children would be orphaned.
Judge David Rennie suspended Graham's 12-month prison sentence for 18 months. Graham pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving. She expressed remorse in court, stating she was late to pick up her own children and had anxiety due to past domestic abuse that caused her to be late for her children.
Sources close to the victim's family expressed anger, stating that Graham had never apologized to Mrs. Keen or her family, even when they were in the hospital following the accident. They also noted that Graham had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, leading to nearly three years of legal proceedings that added to Mrs. Keen's distress. The victim's family claims Graham left the hospital before being seen by medical staff. Graham is married to singer Rory Graham, known as Rag'n'Bone Man, and they reside in a country house in East Sussex. The couple has a total of six children from previous relationships and their marriage.
Hove Crown Court heard that compensation for Mrs. Keen's injuries will be considered in a civil court at a later date. Graham was running late to pick up her own three children when the incident occurred.
