RAF Valley Hawk Jets to Resume Flying After Crash Investigation

Hawk fighter jets are set to resume flying operations at RAF Valley after an incident last month led to a temporary suspension. The decision to restart flights was made at the highest level after extensive scrutiny confirmed that necessary safety controls and assurance measures are in place.

The safety of aircrew, personnel, and local communities remains paramount, according to a statement. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and will continue alongside normal flying and safety processes.

Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft came down near village homes, with debris scattered near a caravan site. Social media footage appeared to show the two pilots ejecting from the Hawk T1, a two-seat training aircraft, shortly before it crashed and caught fire. The footage also depicted a plume of smoke and flames erupting upon impact, narrowly missing residential properties.

The two pilots, a trainee and an experienced professional, sustained minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery. They have since thanked emergency services after returning home.
