2DayFM radio host Emma Chow became visibly emotional on-air Thursday morning as she revealed her husband, Enzo, is battling a life-threatening illness. Chow shared with listeners that Enzo has chronic kidney disease and is in urgent need of a live donor transplant.
"I'm now trying to save my husband’s life. Enzo has chronic kidney disease and he needs a live donor transplant. Hopefully, that donor will be me," Chow stated during her broadcast. She explained that she and her husband have been undergoing a series of tests, awaiting the results of the one that will determine if she is a match. "It's the first time that I might finally be able to physically help him after years of feeling like all I could do was watch him suffer," she added.
Chow detailed her efforts to maintain a sense of normalcy for their two children, Valentino, eight, and Raphael, one, while navigating this challenging period. She acknowledged the emotional toll, stating, "In all honesty, I'm really tired and some days feel a lot harder to push through. But I keep reminding myself why this season is so important. It's so Enzo can live a long, healthy life and watch our boys grow up."
She also spoke about the need to mentally prepare for the possibility that she may not be a match. "I also have to prepare for the news that I'm not a match, and I have to be okay with that," she said. Chow emphasized her commitment to supporting Enzo by attending appointments, maintaining a calm environment at home, preparing his favorite meals, and spending quality family time together.
This is not the first time Chow has shared personal struggles on air. In 2023, she spoke candidly about what she described as a "millennial mum midlife crisis," a feeling of overwhelm while juggling full-time work, parenting, and other life demands. She noted that the conversation is common among her friends, often ending in tears due to the shared effort of managing so many responsibilities.
Enzo and Emma's relationship was previously highlighted in 2015 when a video of his surprise marriage proposal went viral. He proposed to her live on air, an event that led to her tearful acceptance.
