BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley announced the death of her father, Martin Whiley, on Tuesday. Whiley had previously shared on her podcast that her father had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

In a tribute posted on Instagram, Whiley described her father as a "lovely" and "kindest" man who lived to make others happy. She thanked him for instilling in her a love of music, recalling how he would carry a large portable stereo, often called a "ghetto blaster," with him on the building sites where he worked.

Whiley, 61, also highlighted her father's selfless nature, stating that he "loved nothing more than caring for others and making people laugh." She noted his particular passion for artists such as Elbow, Coldplay, and Dido, adding that "his passion for music never went away."
