Rachel Weisz Returns as Action Heroine Evelyn O'Connell After 25 Years

Rachel Weisz is set to return as the intrepid librarian and action heroine Evelyn O'Connell, reprising her iconic role from the 1999 film "The Mummy" for a new sequel. The 56-year-old actress was recently photographed filming scenes for the upcoming movie in London, marking her return to the franchise after a 25-year absence.

Weisz, married to actor Daniel Craig, was seen dressed in period attire, including a yellow polka-dot skirt, a brown cropped jacket, and a wide-brimmed hat, while filming near the British Museum. Her character appeared to be engaged in her work as a librarian and Egyptologist, clutching a vintage briefcase and holding an old-fashioned transistor radio.

This marks the first visual glimpse of Weisz back in character as the franchise is revived for a new generation. She will reunite with her "The Mummy" co-star Brendan Fraser, who played adventurer Rick O'Connell. The pair last appeared together in the 2001 sequel, "The Mummy Returns."

Fraser has expressed enthusiasm for his return to the role, describing it as "like being reconnected with an old friend." The new film, which has not yet been officially titled, is anticipated for release in October of next year. Weisz previously welcomed her son Henry in 2006 with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and later married Daniel Craig, with whom she has a daughter, Grace, born in 2018.
