Ward stated that she does not concern herself with such online detractors. "There is still a preoccupation on how we look. This doesn’t apply to men. Bryan is still an actor and can still get work. So it’s an uneven playing field," she remarked.

She starred alongside Brown in "The Thorn Birds" in 1983, a series based in the Australian outback that garnered significant attention and controversy.
