Rachael Ray Discusses Hormone Replacement and Diet Amid Fan Concerns

Rachael Ray has addressed fan concerns about her recent appearance, revealing she is undergoing hormone replacement therapy and adhering to a health-focused diet. The 58-year-old chef shared these details during an appearance at the New York City Wine & Food Festival.

Ray stated that she is taking hormone replacement therapy on the advice of her doctors, despite not experiencing any menopausal symptoms. "I take my doctor’s advice on hormone replacement or whatever my doctors advise me," she told People.

Her dietary approach emphasizes consuming "lots of colors" from fresh foods, many of which are grown in her own garden. "We grow everything. We have four garden beds - it depends on the season. This time of year we have all of the dark greens and all of our squash, all different sizes of orange squash and zucchini [and] eggplant," Ray explained.

She also mentioned taking supplements, a habit encouraged by her husband, John Cusimano. "I do take supplements," she said. "My husband takes more than I do."

Concerns about Ray's appearance surfaced in July when she posted a cooking video on Instagram. Many followers commented that she looked "unrecognizable" and "swollen," with some expressing worry for her well-being. Others defended the chef, noting that people age and undergo physical changes.

This is not the first time Ray's health has been a topic of public discussion. Last year, her speech was described as "slurring" in an Instagram video, and she also shared that she had experienced "a couple of bad falls" while gathering firewood.

An insider told the Daily Mail last year that individuals close to Ray were concerned about her, suggesting she had become more secluded and unresponsive. "She seems lost and when anyone reaches out to her she doesn't respond," the source claimed. "Rachael was always so meticulous about her appearance, and it is very telling and concerning that she now just doesn't care. It is indicative of a bigger issue."

Ray gained prominence through her Food Network shows starting in 2001. Her syndicated program, "The Rachael Ray Show," concluded in 2023 after 17 seasons, and she launched a new series, "Meals in Minutes," in April 2024.
