Race Across The World Winner Alfie Watts Comes Out as Bisexual
The 23-year-old television personality shared the personal news on Instagram, describing it as a 'terrifying' yet liberating announcement.
Alfie Watts, the 23-year-old winner of the BBC game show "Race Across the World," has publicly announced he is bisexual. Watts shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, detailing aspects of his life that were previously unknown to his followers.
In an 11-slide photo carousel posted to the platform, Watts included an image of himself at a scenic lookout with the overlay text: "I'm bisexual, and this is the first time I've ever said it online, so you probably didn't know – surprise!! What a terrifying thing to say out loud."
The carousel also featured other photos, including one from his travels where he claimed he could name "every capital city in the world," a picture of him on a plane with the caption about eating meals "directly from the pan" to "avoid the washing up," and a childhood photo wearing a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, highlighting his support for the football club.
Watts concluded the post with an image of himself outside the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. He wrote alongside it: "For obvious reasons, I'm absolutely terrified putting this post out to the world, but I love this little corner of the internet that I can call ours, so thank you for being in it." He added a general introduction: "Hi, I'm Alfie. This is scary, but let's do a reintroduction."
Following his announcement, Watts received widespread support from fans. Comments on social media included praise for his bravery, with one user writing, "Proud of you dude, love is love no matter what." Another commented, "Bisexual king!!! Welcome to the club man, happy to have you," while a third added, "Thank you for sharing and coming out. Proud of you from one bi sexual guy to another."
Alfie Watts and his friend Owen Wood became the youngest winners of "Race Across the World" in 2024. Their journey spanned over 14,000 kilometers (8,699 miles), beginning in Sapporo, Japan, and concluding in Lombok, Indonesia, with stops in countries such as South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.
