Rabbi Charged With Murder After Fatal Hit-and-Run Outside Los Angeles Costco
Abba Bryski, 35, faces a felony murder charge following the death of Nicholas Lang, 28, in Camarillo.
A rabbi in Southern California has been charged with murder following the death of a 28-year-old man outside a Costco gas station in Camarillo, authorities said.
Abba Bryski, 35, faces felony murder charges in connection with the death of Nicholas Lang. Police were called to the Costco gas station last Tuesday following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Lang was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
Bryski was arrested at the scene and has also been charged with resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer. Court records indicate he used his 2017 Infiniti Q60 coupe as a "deadly and dangerous weapon."
Bryski, who is listed as a rabbi and educator, is reportedly the son of Rabbi Moshe Bryski, who leads the Chabad of the Conejo center in Agoura Hills. However, an organization representative denied that Abba Bryski holds any official position within the group.
He is currently being held in custody on $3 million bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Ventura Superior Court. The motive for the incident remains under investigation. The cause and manner of death are pending determination by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
