Rabbi Calls Adam Brody 'Ignorant Jew' Over Gaza Comments

Rabbi Steve Leder, who served as a technical consultant for the first season of the Netflix series "Nobody Wants This," has publicly criticized actor Adam Brody for his remarks regarding the conflict in Gaza. Leder, a rabbi, called Brody an "ignorant Jew" in a social media video responding to comments Brody made to GQ magazine, in which the actor described Israel's actions in Gaza as a "genocide" and expressed support for a "free Palestine."

"My job was to make sure that your character was authentic and that everything in Season 1 about Judaism was authentic," Leder stated in the video, referencing his role in ensuring the show's accurate portrayal of Jewish themes. He directly addressed Brody's use of the word "genocide," calling it a misuse and mischaracterization.

"There is no genocide in Gaza," Leder asserted. "There are genocides in other countries happening, but you failed to mention any of them." He further suggested that Brody's comments demonstrated his "ignorance" and advised the actor, "If you know nothing about something, you should say nothing about it."

Brody, who plays Rabbi Noah Roklov in "Nobody Wants This," told GQ that he believes the situation in Gaza constitutes a genocide and that he hopes a new administration can help correct policies contributing to the ongoing crisis.

This incident follows a similar controversy involving musician Macklemore, who was removed from Ed Sheeran's "Loop Tour" after delivering a "Free Palestine" speech during a performance. Several other opening acts for Sheeran's tour withdrew in solidarity with Macklemore, who subsequently organized his own "Free Palestine Tour."
