Quincy Williams Delivers on 'Nightmare' Warning to Former Team Jets
Former Jets linebacker Quincy Williams forced three fumbles and recorded 11 tackles in a loss to his old team, fulfilling his vow to be a difficult opponent.
Cleveland Browns linebacker Quincy Williams made good on his pre-game vow to be a "nightmare" for his former team, the New York Jets, during Sunday's matchup at MetLife Stadium. Williams, who played for the Jets from 2021 to 2025 before they opted not to re-sign him, forced three fumbles, recovered one, and led all players with 11 tackles in the Browns' 17-12 loss.
Williams had publicly stated his intention to make the Jets regret their decision. "So, the nightmare starts on Sunday," he told reporters in the week leading up to the game. Despite his standout individual performance, Williams expressed disappointment with the outcome.
"We’re kind of down about that since we gave up two scores," Williams said after the game. "Me playing a good game and all the other linebackers playing a good game, I’m not going to say that it doesn’t matter, but it wasn’t enough."
Other Game Developments
The game also saw Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq leave with a concussion after a hit from Williams that caused one of the fumbles. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn stated that Sadiq was "fine" and would proceed through the concussion protocol.
Wide receiver Tim Patrick made his debut for the Jets after missing the first four games with a groin injury. He recorded two receptions for 26 yards but was also flagged for a holding penalty on the team's first offensive play, negating a run by Braelon Allen. Patrick acknowledged a slow start but felt he contributed positively, citing a fumble recovery and a key block on a touchdown.
On the defensive side for the Jets, rookie defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr., a fourth-round draft pick, batted down two passes and registered his first career sack. "It felt good, just coming into the league and contributing to my team early," Jackson said. "My coach put me out there in a big moment, so I feel like he trusted me to go out there and contribute."
Veteran Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was penalized twice early in the game for personal fouls, including a helmet-to-helmet hit on Browns wide receiver KC Concepcion Jr. that resulted in Concepcion leaving the game with a concussion.
The Jets' defense recorded eight sacks in the game. David Bailey led the effort with three sacks, while Jowon Briggs, Darrell Jackson Jr., Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Will McDonald IV, and Dane Belton each added one.
