Queen Camilla took a break from her usual summer retreat at Balmoral for a family outing that included a shopping trip in the nearby village of Ballater. She was accompanied by her sister, Annabel Elliot, 77, her daughter, Laura Lopes, 48, and her granddaughter, Eliza, 18.
The group visited several shops less than eight miles from the royal residence on Monday. Among their stops was KT Boutique, a store specializing in Scottish cashmere, where Camilla was seen leaving with shopping bags. The Queen, 79, was also photographed with her sister and granddaughter leaving a bookshop named A.B. Yule, with paper bags suggesting they had purchased holiday reads.
Camilla's twin grandsons, Gus and Harry Lopes, both 16, also joined the outing but reportedly grew tired of shopping and returned to the car. These grandsons, along with another grandson, Freddy Parker Bowles, also 16, served as Pages of Honour at the 2023 Coronation. Eliza, who was a flower girl at the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Catherine, had previously appeared with Charles and Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
The Queen opted for a casual ensemble for the day, wearing jeans, a blue shirt, a navy jumper, and a parka jacket. Locals in Ballater are accustomed to seeing members of the Royal Family during the summer months; Camilla, Laura, and Eliza undertook a similar shopping excursion in the village last year.
Meanwhile, King Charles, 77, has also been undertaking engagements in Scotland. He recently attended an event at Ballindalloch Castle in Speyside and observed the Mey Highland Games at John O'Groats, also visiting Dingwall. The King and Queen are expected to host several guests at Balmoral this year, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Queen Camilla is also scheduled to travel to York for the Ebor Festival races later in the week.
