A Qantas customer has voiced her frustration after being denied entry to a Qantas Lounge at Melbourne Airport due to wearing Ugg boots. Cassidy Gaiter, a frequent flyer, shared her experience in a video, stating she had previously visited multiple Qantas lounges in different cities without issue while wearing the same footwear.

Gaiter noted that the lounge's dress code policy, which prohibits 'sleepwear,' was not clearly displayed and questioned why her Ugg boots, often worn outdoors, were categorized as sleepwear. She argued that lounge policies should be consistently enforced across all locations and that customers are unlikely to check online dress codes before visiting.

Qantas lounges have a 'smart casual' dress code policy that prohibits items such as rubber thongs, bare feet, head-to-toe gym wear, beachwear, clothing with offensive images or slogans, and revealing, unclean, or torn clothing. Specifically, the policy states that "sleepwear, including ugg boots and slippers, are not permitted." The airline does permit clean high-visibility workwear and other uniforms.

Gaiter suggested that she was singled out because she did not appear to be dressed in business attire, despite her status as a paying, frequent flyer. She expressed that she spends significant amounts on flights to access lounge facilities and should not be denied entry for what she considers a minor dress code infraction.

Ms Gaiter was surprised to learn the boots are counted as 'sleepwear' by the Qantas Lounges (pictured in Melbourne) as they're commonly worn outside
