Putin Agrees to Supply US With Diesel Fuel, Trump Announces

Former President Donald Trump announced on October 9, 2026, that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to supply the U.S. with significant quantities of diesel fuel. Trump made the announcement via the social media platform Truth Social, stating the agreement could impact pump prices ahead of the November midterm elections.

According to Trump's post, Russia has committed to immediately supply over 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the American and global markets. He further stated that an additional 500,000 tons would be released in November, followed by 1 million tons shortly thereafter. Trump also indicated that Russia would deliver another 3 million tons of diesel within a short period, citing the condition of Russian diesel refineries impacted by Ukrainian drone strikes.

This announcement comes as the U.S. faces potential challenges in energy markets, with the midterm elections approaching. The agreement, if realized, could influence domestic fuel prices.
