Pussycat Dolls Tour Faces Setbacks Ahead of Final Shows

The Pussycat Dolls' reunion tour, dubbed the PCD Forever Tour, has been plagued by numerous challenges as it nears its conclusion.

The group, comprising Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger, and Kimberley Wyatt, is set to perform their final shows this Saturday, October 31, in São Paulo, Brazil.

Since the tour began in September, the band has encountered significant obstacles, including poor ticket sales, internal disputes, canceled dates, and injuries. Notably, member Nicole Scherzinger suffered a burn, Kimberley Wyatt has been recovering from a hip operation, and Ashley Roberts has experienced performance anxiety.

North American Leg Cancellation

Even before the tour commenced, the group faced controversy with the exclusion of founding members Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta, and Melody Thornton. The announcement of their comeback in March was followed by the release of their first single in six years, "Club Song." However, the North American leg of their comeback tour was ultimately canceled due to dismal ticket sales.

Initially, the trio had planned a 53-date tour across the UK, Europe, and North America. The 33 dates scheduled for the U.S. and Canada were scrapped after arenas were reported to be 80% empty. Despite efforts to lower ticket prices to $30, organizers were forced to cancel the shows just a month before their scheduled start on June 5 in Palm Desert, California.

A statement released by the band acknowledged the difficult decision to cancel all but one North American date, citing an "honest look at the North American run." The statement emphasized that U.K. and European dates were proceeding as planned, with several shows already sold out, and highlighted the band's commitment to creating a memorable show for their fans.

On-Stage Incidents

Further disruptions occurred during the tour. In one instance in Poland, a reported technical issue prevented lead singer Nicole Scherzinger from performing during their hit song "Buttons." This left Ashley Roberts and Kimberley Wyatt to perform the choreography alone while the backing track played, leading to an awkward on-stage moment. Fans online noted the absence of former member Melody Thornton, speculating that she might have stepped in to fill Scherzinger's vocal parts, as she had done in the past.
