Puka Nacua Details Playing Through Calf Injury, Admits Maxx Crosby Won Their Blocking Matchup

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua disclosed that he experienced discomfort in his calf during the final practice session before the team's recent game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite the injury, Nacua was determined to play in the critical matchup.

"Toward the end of practice on Thursday, just running around and just felt like something wasn’t right," Nacua stated. "So we were able to get some images and then try to put together a game plan so I could get out there on Sunday."

Nacua has been managing other injuries this season, including hip and groin issues, but emphasized his commitment to playing without fear. This mindset was tested when he was tasked with blocking Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, a four-time Pro Bowler known for his physicality.

"Me and Maxx met there, and I think Maxx won the battle, but I felt pretty confident I showed a good effort there," Nacua admitted. "But Maxx Crosby is an elite player in this league for a reason."

The confrontation with Crosby highlighted Nacua's appreciation for the competitive and physical nature of football, even when facing difficult odds.

Despite the challenges, Nacua contributed to the Rams' 35-21 victory, catching an 11-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford. This win helped end the Rams' two-game losing streak.

Nacua's recovery regimen now includes daily treatment, adjustments to his insoles, and continued work with the team's training staff. While doctors have not linked his current calf injury to his previous hip problems, Nacua acknowledged the importance of monitoring his body to prevent compensatory issues. For the Rams, who have faced numerous injuries, keeping Nacua healthy is considered crucial for their performance.
