Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is facing new allegations of abuse from his ex-girlfriend, Hallie Aiono, who described their relationship as involving "extreme betrayal, abuse and complete neglect."
Aiono, the mother of Nacua's child, shared her experiences in a TikTok video, stating that the private aspects of their relationship were more damaging to her mental health than public scrutiny.
"A lot of the things that were public affected my mental health. But honestly, the things that were happening in private are what completely crushed me and altered my brain chemistry," Aiono said. "Those parts, what people never saw, or know of, are what broke me."
The couple began dating in 2021 while both were students at Brigham Young University. Aiono was supportive of Nacua as he rose to prominence in the NFL in 2023, breaking the rookie receiving yards record.
Their relationship ended while Aiono was pregnant, leading to a paternity case filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in June 2025. Aiono sought confirmation of Nacua as the father, full physical custody, and joint legal custody with visitation rights. Their son, Kingston, was born in December 2025.
These allegations come as Nacua navigates a challenging offseason, with the NFL potentially considering disciplinary action for off-field conduct. Nacua has been previously accused in a civil lawsuit of biting a woman and making an antisemitic remark on New Year's Eve.
Last month, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Nacua, who also entered rehab, could face a league suspension. He entered rehab during the offseason and reflected on his journey in May.
"It provided a moment for me to learn from some of the situations I was putting myself in and then also having just an awareness of how I'm conducting myself in and out of this football field," Nacua stated. He also mentioned working with a Rams therapist and attending weekly meetings to improve his daily structure.
Nacua has expressed gratitude for the support from the Rams organization and his teammates. "Some of the things I feel like I've learned is it's OK to ask for support and then to recognize the platform that I have and being a professional football player and trying to use that for the betterment of myself and for those around me," he said.
