Protesters Disrupt Trump Rally in South Carolina; Supporters Intervene
President Trump's rally for Darline Graham was interrupted multiple times by protesters before supporters stepped in, drawing praise from the president.
President Donald Trump's rally in South Carolina on Wednesday was disrupted by at least six protesters in its opening minutes, with some individuals attempting to derail the event. The disruptions occurred as Trump spoke in support of Darline Graham, the Republican candidate for the US Senate and sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
Trump addressed the protesters directly, characterizing them as paid individuals and "losers" who aim to "destroy our country." He urged his supporters to vote as if he were on the ballot, stating that "when I'm on the ballot, we get 29 percent more votes."
At one point, a protester stood directly in front of the stage, prompting a supporter in the audience to seemingly punch the individual. Trump reacted to the scuffle from the stage, expressing surprise and asking who threw the punch. He praised the supporter who intervened, comparing him to former professional boxer Evander Holyfield, who was also in attendance.

Another protester interrupted the rally about an hour into the event, leading to crowd chants of "USA, USA." Trump thanked law enforcement officers for promptly removing the protesters.
The rally also featured Trump reiterating his promise to send $5,000 checks to all American adults if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate after the upcoming midterm elections. Darline Graham spoke briefly, calling Trump "one of Lindsey's greatest friends" and stating he "will always be a part of the Graham family."
Republicans are aiming to retain the South Carolina Senate seat following the death of Lindsey Graham. The party has allocated an additional $5 million to support Darline Graham's campaign, described as an "insurance policy" to secure a seat Lindsey Graham had consistently won by a significant margin. An end-of-September poll showed Darline Graham leading by only one point.
