Prosecutors Seek Interviews with Minors in KJ Biermann Case

Prosecutors have filed an emergency motion seeking court authorization for forensic interviews of minor children in the ongoing sodomy and sexual battery case against Kroy "KJ" Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of Kim Zolciak.

Forensic interviews are described as neutral, developmentally and culturally appropriate conversations with children designed to elicit detailed information about potential experiences or witnessed events, according to the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy.

Biermann has been held at Atlanta’s Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since his arrest in August. He was indicted earlier in September on charges including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and multiple counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child under 16, stemming from an alleged incident in April in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Last week, Biermann was granted bond, but a specific release date has not yet been announced. Upon release, he will be subject to strict conditions. These include electric monitoring, a prohibition on contact with the alleged victim, their family, or associates, and no contact with anyone aged 16 or under. He is also required to reside at his mother's home, attend school virtually, and abstain from social media and cell phone use.

During a bond hearing on September 11, prosecutors revealed that investigators had previously found videos on Biermann's phone depicting him engaging in sexual activity with a female family member under the age of 12. The prosecution alleged that the videos showed him using "predatory, derogatory" language toward the alleged victim on multiple occasions. This prior juvenile matter, according to court documents, has placed Biermann under court supervision since October 2025.

KJ Biermann's lawyer, Jason Sheffield, previously stated that the characterizations made in court regarding the prior juvenile matter "grossly misrepresent both the facts and the ultimate resolution of that case." Sheffield asserted that the matter involved "inappropriate, crude behavior involving two middle-schoolers" and did not result in an adjudication for statutory rape or comparable offenses.

Sheffield also indicated that his client intends to plead not guilty to all charges at his arraignment, scheduled for October 14. Zolciak herself had reportedly confiscated the teen's phone over a year prior to his detention due to an unspecified "discovery" on the device.
