Prosecutors Seek Gag Order on Lindsay Clancy's Lawyer After Media Comments

Prosecutors in the Lindsay Clancy murder case are seeking a gag order against her defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, citing his public comments about the single juror who dissented in the mistrial. In court papers filed Monday, prosecutors stated the order is necessary "to prevent the carnival atmosphere that was the trial... as well as the aftermath since."

According to the filing, Clancy's attorney made "disturbing" comments concerning the jury and the lone holdout juror, identified as Michael Desronvil. Prosecutors contend that Reddington's revelation of the juror's gender, when only three men were on the panel, "ensured that the juror would be publicly identified." They also noted Reddington's assertion that the holdout juror "robbed the defendant of an acquittal."

The prosecution believes that limiting Reddington's extrajudicial statements is crucial to prevent potential future jurors from forming preconceived notions about the case and to avoid prejudice in any subsequent trial. The defense has previously argued that Clancy should not be held criminally responsible due to severe postpartum psychosis, during which she claimed to hear voices. Prosecutors, however, maintain that Clancy intentionally planned and executed the murders of her three children: Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months.

During the trial, which concluded with a hung jury, 11 out of 12 jurors reportedly leaned towards finding Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. Desronvil was the sole juror who wished to convict her on the murder charges.
