Prominent Restaurant Owner Blake Rogers Dies in Northern NSW

Blake Rogers, a well-known restaurant owner in the popular tourist town of Lennox Head, was found dead on September 21, authorities confirmed. Rogers, 56, had been reported missing earlier that day in East Ballina, located in the NSW Northern Rivers region. Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Rogers was the driving force behind Chido Cantina, a Mexican eatery he took over three years ago with his wife, Cilla. The restaurant, formerly known as Pancho Villa, has remained closed since his death as the family navigates their grief. The loss has deeply affected the close-knit community, prompting an outpouring of tributes from customers and fellow hospitality operators.

Fellow business owners in Lennox Head shared their reflections on Rogers' passing following his funeral in Ballina on October 8. They highlighted the challenges and isolation that can accompany running a small business, urging others to support those in the industry.

Customers recalled Rogers as a warm and welcoming presence. One patron shared a personal story of receiving congratulations and parenting advice from Rogers during a visit to the restaurant after the birth of their child. Many remembered his dedication to his family and his role in creating a community space at Chido Cantina.
