Pro Cricketer's Viral Lime Bike Crash Leaves Scar, But Not Career

A professional cricketer is recovering from a viral incident in which he crashed his Lime Bike and smashed through the back window of a taxi with his head.

Luke Hollman sustained a significant head injury during the accident on London's Euston Road, which was captured on video and widely shared online. The footage shows a preceding cyclist stopping abruptly, causing the taxi to brake sharply. Hollman, riding shortly behind, was unable to stop in time and was thrown headfirst through the taxi's rear window, sustaining a laceration to his forehead.

Despite the visible injury, which required 35 stitches across three layers and left a scar resembling one from the Harry Potter series, Hollman's recovery was swift. He was cleared of a skull fracture by a CT scan and returned to training just 17 days after the incident. Middlesex Cricket, his team, initially kept the details of his absence private.

Just weeks after the crash, Hollman played a crucial role in Middlesex's victory over Durham in the semi-final of the MetroBank One Day Cup, scoring 83 not out. He was preparing to compete in the One Day Cup final, the team's first since 1990, against Leicestershire.

Hollman had been on his way to meet friends when the accident occurred. He recounted that it took him a moment to grasp the severity of the collision. "I put my hand to my head and realised there was a bit of blood," he told The Telegraph. "I put my hand down again and there was a huge stream of blood."

Passersby assisted Hollman, with one individual providing a first-aid pack to wrap his head. Even after being taken to the hospital, Hollman initially believed the reaction to his injury was excessive and contacted his team's physio to offer his availability for an upcoming match.

Previously a regular user of Lime Bikes without a helmet, Hollman now emphasizes the importance of head protection and advises others to do the same.
