Prison Nurse Pleads Guilty to Relationship with Inmate
Stephanie Adair admitted misconduct in public office for an inappropriate relationship with Jahki Crosdale at HMP Wandsworth.
A prison nurse has pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office for engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a convicted killer at HMP Wandsworth. Stephanie Adair, 29, admitted to the charge at Kingston Crown Court, with the relationship occurring between September 1, 2023, and November 2, 2024.
Adair also maintained contact with inmate Jahki Crosdale, 28, through an illicit mobile phone, according to court proceedings. Crosdale has pleaded guilty to unauthorized transmission of images or sound from within HMP Wandsworth and HMP Lowdham Grange between February 23 and October 23, 2024.
Judge Georgina Kent addressed Adair, stating the importance of cooperation with reports and warning her against committing any further offenses before her sentencing on February 9, 2027. Crosdale, appearing via video link from HMP Manchester, received the same warning.
Both Adair and Crosdale, who is on recall until 2029, were granted unconditional bail until their sentencing. The allegations of their relationship emerged after Crosdale reportedly listed Adair's address on court documents.
Adair had previously been suspended from her role at HMP Wandsworth and was temporarily banned from working in prisons as part of a conditions of practice order from the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Crosdale's criminal history includes a conviction for the manslaughter of 19-year-old Charlie Burns in March 2015, for which he was sentenced to six years after stabbing Burns over a cannabis debt. He also has prior convictions for drug supply and firearms offenses. HMP Wandsworth has faced criticism from the Howard League for Penal Reform for issues including overcrowding, violence, and self-harm.
