Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie Reportedly Visiting Sarah Ferguson Amid Public Distance
Royal commentator suggests the sisters visit their mother privately but avoid public appearances together.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have visited their mother, Sarah Ferguson, at her new rented home in the Home Counties, according to royal commentator Phil Dampier. However, Dampier claims the sisters "don't want to be seen with her in public at the moment," suggesting a desire to avoid being "tainted by scandal."
Ferguson, 67, has been renting a six-bedroom house in a gated community for approximately £10,000 per month. This move follows her eviction from Royal Lodge alongside her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, amid the fallout from the Epstein Files.
Dampier told Hello! magazine that Beatrice, 38, and Eugenie, 36, "have both been to see her at her new house in the past couple of weeks." He added, "she probably realises it's not a good idea either, but behind the scenes they are talking and trying to be supportive."
The royal commentator suggested that the relationship between Ferguson and her daughters may not be as close as it once was, noting that Beatrice and Eugenie will be "reevaluating... the things they get involved with."
This situation arises as Ferguson faces continued scrutiny. A plaque commemorating her association with Great Ormond Street Hospital has reportedly vanished from the hospital grounds. For decades, the plaque marked Ferguson's opening of a 'Home from Home' facility in 1990. Neither Ferguson nor the charity behind the hostel have commented on the plaque's disappearance.
Last year, Ferguson's public image suffered significantly following the publication of emails detailing her relationship with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Although she publicly disavowed Epstein after his 2008 conviction, private communications revealed she had called him a "supreme friend." In response to these revelations and other emails uncovered by The Mail on Sunday, King Charles reportedly stripped Ferguson and Prince Andrew of their titles and removed them from Royal Lodge.
Following these events, Ferguson was dropped as a patron by several charities, including Julia's House, Prevent Breast Cancer, The British Heart Foundation, The Teenage Cancer Trust, and the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals.
In recent months, Ferguson has spent time abroad, traveling across Europe, including Switzerland and Austria, as she maintained a low profile. She was reportedly seen at a spa in Austria and a chalet in Switzerland owned by her late former lover, Paddy McNally.
Ferguson's return to the UK coincides with the recent relocation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back to Britain. Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie recently celebrated her eighth wedding anniversary, sharing a video of her husband, Jack Brooksbank, with their newborn daughter, Adelaide. Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, were seen publicly last month at the Cornbury House Horse Trials alongside Zara Tindall and the Duchess of Edinburgh. This outing was one of Beatrice's few public appearances since attending the funeral of McNally, who reportedly left Ferguson an allowance following his death. McNally, who died at 88, built a significant fortune and had a past relationship with Ferguson. The princesses reportedly enjoyed family holidays at his properties during their childhood.
