The Princess of Wales presented the Wimbledon men's singles trophy to Jannik Sinner following his victory against Alexander Zverev on Centre Court. Prince William and two of their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were in attendance to watch the final. Their youngest son, Prince Louis, remained at home.
Sinner, the 24-year-old Italian player, secured his second consecutive Wimbledon title by defeating Germany's Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4. The match concluded in just under four hours, making Sinner one of only ten men to retain the title in the Open era. This victory came in the absence of rival Carlos Alcaraz, who was sidelined due to injury.
The Princess of Wales, wearing a green dress, was seen smiling as she congratulated Sinner and handed him the trophy. This marks the second consecutive year Kate has presented the men's singles trophy to Sinner, having done so last year after another four-set match.
Earlier in the day, Princess Kate also interacted with British player Arthur Fery, who reached the semi-finals as a wildcard, a feat not achieved by a wildcard in 25 years. Fery's run ended with a loss to Zverev on Friday.
The Royal family appeared to adapt to the warm weather conditions, with Kate, William, George, and Charlotte later seen wearing sunhats. Prince George was observed using a portable fan and wearing sunglasses during the match. The princess also wore a brooch featuring the tournament's colors, referred to as her 'Wimbledon bow'.
Runner-up Alexander Zverev congratulated Sinner on his win, humorously noting their past nine consecutive losses to the Italian. He acknowledged Sinner's status as the world's best player and praised his team's long-term support. Zverev also reflected on his own journey, expressing that reaching the Wimbledon final at age 29 was the first time he believed he could win the trophy. He thanked the crowd for their support throughout the tournament.
