Princess Kate Narrowly Avoids Trip at Premiere

The Princess of Wales, Kate, recently experienced a near-tumble at the premiere of Tom Cruise's film 'Digger' in London. Claire Tavenier, chair of the Film and TV Charity, inadvertently stepped on the back of the Princess's Jenny Packham gown as she arrived for the event.

Video footage captured the moment Ms. Tavenier stepped on the royal's dress, causing the Princess to briefly lose her footing. Ms. Tavenier immediately held up her hand in apology. The Princess, however, appeared unfazed, breaking into laughter and continuing forward with confidence. She offered Ms. Tavenier an empathetic grin, reassuring her after the incident.

The Princess of Wales paired her purple gown with Jimmy Choo accessories, including a velvet clutch and velvet pumps. Her jewelry included the Queen Mother's amethyst sauron necklace and Collingwood diamond and pearl drop earrings, which were a gift to Princess Diana before her wedding.

Prince William attended the premiere with his wife, dressed in a velvet evening jacket and polished shoes. The couple reunited with Tom Cruise, whom they had met previously at the UK premiere of 'Top Gun: Maverick' in May 2022.

Cruise expressed his admiration for the royal couple, stating, "I just love them. They are lovely people and I have great respect for them." He also noted commonalities with Prince William, including their shared love for England and flying.

The premiere was hosted by Warner Bros and benefited the Film and TV Charity. The royal couple met with members of the cast and creative team, including Riz Ahmed. Cruise escorted the Princess of Wales down the cinema steps, holding her hand.

Inside the cinema, William and Catherine were introduced to beneficiaries of the Film and Television Charity, including Chloe Malone, who is receiving support for a production course. The Princess also received a posy from seven-year-old Evie Peters, and the Prince was presented with a program by four-year-old Sahrae-Lea Herbert.

David Beckham and his sons, Cruz and Romeo, were also in attendance and greeted the royal couple. 'Digger' is described as a satirical black comedy where Cruise plays an oil tycoon involved in an environmental disaster. This event marked the 73rd Royal Film Performance in the charity's 100-year history.
