Princess Isabella of Denmark, 19, recently celebrated her high school graduation by attending a concert by the Danish rap group Suspekt, the same band involved in a T-shirt controversy last year. The celebration, which reportedly included her parents King Frederik and Queen Mary, and older brother Crown Prince Christian, saw Isabella and a friend join the band on stage.
Videos circulating on social media platforms like TikTok appeared to show Isabella, still wearing her graduation cap, briefly joining the group. King Frederik was also reportedly seen in the front row, with the frontman of Suspekt, Orgi-E, reportedly handing him the microphone as the King was seen rapping along. Queen Mary was also present, observed near the water's edge, appearing to enjoy the music.
This latest appearance comes nearly a year after Isabella, then 18, caused a stir at the Smukfest music festival by wearing a black T-shirt with a suggestive slogan referencing Suspekt's explicit lyrics. The T-shirt translated to 'f***ed him yesterday' and sparked debate among Danish commentators about the boundaries of royal behavior. At the time, Queen Mary humorously responded to questions about the outfit, stating, "My first thought was - is she completely gone?" adding, "some decisions are better than others."
Isabella's fashion choices have been noted for their evolving style. For her official graduation ceremony at Oeregaard Gymnasium, she wore a white midi skirt from the Australian brand Meshki, a choice seen by some as a subtle nod to her Australian-born mother, Queen Mary. The skirt, retailing for $129, featured a contemporary design, signaling Isabella's inclination towards a more modern royal wardrobe distinct from traditional fashion norms.
Following her graduation on June 23, Isabella participated in the traditional Danish 'student truck ride' with her classmates. Her summer break will be brief, as she is scheduled to begin 11 months of military training at the Guard Hussar Regiment in August, following in the path of her brother Crown Prince Christian. This training will place her among the first cohort of young Danish women to undertake the country's newly expanded military service program. Isabella expressed her anticipation for this challenge, stating she hoped it would push her limits.
For now, Isabella appears to be embracing her final summer of freedom before commencing her military service, balancing celebrations with her friends and family, and a continued affinity for the music of Suspekt.
