Princess Eugenie has announced the name of her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank: Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. The name is a tribute to individuals the couple admires and reflects the significance of England and Portugal in their lives.
Adelaide was born earlier this month at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces. She is Eugenie's third child, joining older brothers August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born in 2021, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born in 2023.
Princess Eugenie shared the news on Instagram, stating, "Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her great-grandmother who we hold close in our hearts." She added that the name also reflects "English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home."
Eugenie also posted photographs of the new baby, including one of her sons holding their sister. "Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers," she wrote.
The new arrival is 15th in line to the British throne, moving ahead of Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh. The baby is not a Royal Highness. Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla, along with other Royal Family members, were informed of the birth and "delighted" by the news.
Princess Eugenie and her family divide their time between Portugal and Ivy Cottage, located on the grounds of Kensington Palace. The couple announced Eugenie's pregnancy with their third child in May 2025, sharing a photograph of their sons holding a baby scan with the caption "Baby Brooksbank due 2026!"
