The incident occurred at Deene Park in Northamptonshire when an owl, which was perched on her hand, took flight unexpectedly, startling Naylor-Leyland.

In a video clip she shared online, Naylor-Leyland, dressed in a distinctive £3,706 Gemy Maalouf dress, was heard exclaiming in surprise as the bird departed. This event was a stark contrast to her recent 40th birthday celebration, which also featured animals but in a more controlled environment. Her July birthday party was held at Villa Cetinale in Italy and included guests such as Lady Mary Charteris and Poppy Delevingne.

Naylor-Leyland's business, Mrs Alice, which specializes in themed dining sets, has seen significant success, particularly in the United States, where it accounts for 65% of sales. Launched in 2019, the brand reportedly generated £2 million in its first year. Customers often purchase multiple items, with the average order consisting of nine products. The brand began with a "tablescape in a box" concept, including placemats, linens, and table decorations, and has since collaborated with designers like Marie Chantal of Greece and Poppy Delevingne.

Naylor-Leyland, who has also contributed to Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, has previously partnered with Princess Beatrice on a tablescape collection to benefit the charity Borne, which focuses on research to end premature birth. She is married to Tom Naylor-Leyland, heir to a substantial family fortune and estates. The couple met when Naylor-Leyland was 16 and began dating five years later, marrying in 2011. They have four children together.
