Princess Alexandra's Health Concerns Grow After Event Absence
The 89-year-old royal's last-minute withdrawal from a memorial concert fuels speculation about her well-being.
Princess Alexandra, who is reportedly too frail for many public engagements, was unable to attend a concert honoring her late sister-in-law, Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who passed away a year ago at the age of 92.
According to the Court Circular, the official record of royal engagements, Princess Alexandra was listed as attending a performance by students and alumni of Future Talent, a charity co-founded by the Duchess of Kent, on Sunday at Westminster's Sinfonia Smith Square. However, the Court Circular was inaccurate; Princess Alexandra did not attend the concert.
"The princess unfortunately had to pull out at the last moment," a source told Richard Eden. This sudden withdrawal has intensified concerns about the health of Princess Alexandra, who is set to turn 90 on Christmas Day. Her most recent public appearance was nearly six months ago at a Buckingham Palace reception marking the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth.
Other members of the Royal Family present at the Future Talent concert, hosted by television presenter Alexander Armstrong, included Princess Alexandra's brothers, the Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent, as well as their children Lady Helen Taylor and Lord Nicholas Windsor, and Lord Nicholas's wife, the actress Sophie Winkleman.
Nicholas Robinson, a co-founder of Future Talent, stated, "It was an honour to welcome so many members of Katharine’s family to celebrate the wonderful musical legacy she has left in Future Talent."
