Princes William and Harry Reportedly Eyeing Rival Documentaries on Princess Diana's Legacy
The brothers, whose relationship is strained, may release competing television tributes to their late mother on the 30th anniversary of her death.
Prince William is reportedly considering appearing in a television program about his mother, Princess Diana, as the 30th anniversary of her death approaches. His brother, Prince Harry, is also understood to be planning a documentary on the same subject.
This potential rivalry comes amid a period of estrangement between the two princes. Their relationship has been strained since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle's 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, and Harry's subsequent memoir, 'Spare,' which contained critical remarks about William and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
On the 20th anniversary of Diana's death in 2017, both princes participated in the BBC documentary 'Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.' However, sources suggest a joint appearance is unlikely next year.
Harry has reportedly reached out to Diana's friends and family for potential participation in a commemorative film. While no project has been finalized or confirmed, Harry is said to be exploring meaningful ways to honor his mother's legacy for the significant anniversary, possibly through his Archewell Productions banner, which has a deal with Netflix.
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace stated that they do not comment on how the Prince of Wales will mark the anniversary.
