Prince William Reveals He Tried to 'Move' Travis Kelce Out of Viral Taylor Swift Selfie
The Prince of Wales recounted the moment he, his children, and the pop star posed for a photo, admitting he was unaware of the significance of Kelce's presence at the time.
Prince William has revealed that he attempted to reposition Travis Kelce in a viral selfie taken with Taylor Swift and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at one of Swift's 2024 concerts. The Prince of Wales, 44, appeared as a guest on The Graham Norton Show where he shared the anecdote.
William explained that he was unaware at the time that Swift had not yet officially made her relationship with Kelce public on Instagram. He posed for the photo with Swift and his children after attending her Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium. The Prince admitted he was puzzled by Kelce's insistence on being included in the snapshot.
"Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn't work out why he kept coming back in!" William recounted. "I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children!"
This was not the first time Prince William had met Taylor Swift. He previously met the singer in 2013 at a Kensington Palace gala for the Centrepoint charity. During that event, Swift famously invited the Prince on stage to sing "Livin' On A Prayer" with Bon Jovi. Reflecting on that moment, William said he still doesn't understand what compelled him to join the performance, admitting, "To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I'm cringing at what happened next, and I don't understand why I gave in."
On The Graham Norton Show, William also discussed his children's enthusiasm for the television series "The Traitors," noting that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are "obsessed" with the show. He also shared that he occasionally participates in online fan forums for his favored Premier League football club, Aston Villa.
His appearance on the chat show aimed to promote his Earthshot Prize initiative, which supports innovative solutions to environmental challenges. William's visit marked a departure from more traditional royal engagements, as he is only the second future British monarch to appear on a television chat show sofa, following in the footsteps of his father, King Charles.
