Prince William Reveals He Tried to Move Travis Kelce Out of Taylor Swift Selfie
The Prince of Wales shared a humorous anecdote about meeting the pop star and NFL player at her 2024 Eras Tour concert.
Prince William has recounted a humorous incident where he attempted to reposition Travis Kelce in a viral selfie taken with Taylor Swift and two of his children. The Prince of Wales, 44, appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, admitting he was unaware at the time that Swift had not yet officially made her relationship with Kelce public on Instagram.
During the concert, William posed for a photograph with Swift, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. He recalled being perplexed by Kelce's persistence in joining the frame. "Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn't work out why he kept coming back in! I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children!" William shared with the audience, who reacted with laughter.
William noted that he hadn't grasped the significance of the post until more recently. His appearance on the show also touched upon his children's obsession with the BBC series "The Traitors," and his own childhood aspirations, including a brief stint wanting to be a DJ under the moniker "DJ Xara."
This engagement marked a departure from more traditional royal appearances, with William joining fellow guests Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, and Robert Irwin. His participation aimed to promote his Earthshot Prize initiative. The Prince also revealed a lighter side by admitting he occasionally participates in online fan forums for his favored Premier League club, Aston Villa.
William's previous encounter with Swift was in 2013 at a Centrepoint charity gala at Kensington Palace. During that event, Swift famously invited him on stage to sing Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer." Reflecting on that moment, William expressed a sense of embarrassment, stating, "To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I'm cringing at what happened next, and I don't understand why I gave in."
Viewers responded positively to William's relaxed demeanor and self-deprecating humor, with social media users describing his appearance as a "breath of fresh air" and praising the "feeling of normalcy" he conveyed. He is only the second future British monarch to appear on a television chat show sofa, following in the footsteps of his father, King Charles.
