Prince William Makes Surprise Appearance on Graham Norton Show

Prince William made a surprise appearance on The Graham Norton Show as part of a special edition dedicated to his Earthshot Prize initiative. The episode, which aired on Friday, featured guests Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin, and Hannah Waddingham, all of whom are involved with the prize.

During the program, Norton revealed Prince William's presence to the audience, inviting him to join the guests on the sofa. The discussion centered on the importance of balancing optimism with urgency in addressing climate change. The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William in 2020, aims to "celebrate and scale the solutions that will repair our planet."

The Prince of Wales drew inspiration for the Earthshot Prize from President John F. Kennedy's Moonshot project, which challenged scientists to achieve space travel milestones. The initiative has established five key goals, or "Earthshots": Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate. Each winning project receives £1 million.

Prince William has committed to the Earthshot Prize until 2030. The winners for the current year are scheduled to be announced at a ceremony in Mumbai in November. Previous award ceremonies have attracted notable figures, including former Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel and Kylie Minogue, who performed at the 2025 ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. Last year, William remarked that the winners were "proof that progress is possible."

Beyond his environmental work, the program also touched upon Prince William's longstanding support for the Aston Villa football club and his appreciation for the films of director Christopher Nolan.
