Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly made aware of a 2019 letter containing allegations of child sexual abuse against Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan Markle. A source close to the royal family told the Daily Mail that it was “unthinkable” for the Royal Household not to have been informed of the letter.

The letter, reportedly written by Thomas Markle Sr.'s late ex-wife, Roslyn Loveless, was later passed on to Meghan Markle. The insider suggested that Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, would not have received the letter "in isolation," and that it was the police's duty to inform the Palace of the claims.

Thomas Sr., 82, is currently under investigation by the Cebu City Police Office in the Philippines. The investigation followed allegations by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., that hundreds, if not thousands, of child sexual abuse images were discovered in his father's home.

Thomas Markle Jr. told The Sun that he was horrified by the material found among family mementos and felt he had no choice but to report his father. Meghan Markle stated in a message shared with Page Six that she was "deeply distressed" by the news and had received a similar letter in 2018 containing "troubling and disturbing" allegations against her father, which she believes contributed to their estrangement.

London's Metropolitan Police confirmed that the letter was forwarded to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's office in January 2019 but was not shared with other law enforcement agencies. Thomas Sr. has denied the allegations, calling them "sick lies."

Additional child sexual abuse material has reportedly been found by Daily Mail reporters in a storage unit rented by Thomas Sr. near his former home in Mexico. This material, allegedly including books on pedophilia and magazines depicting child abuse, has been reported to the FBI.

Royal reporter Andrea Caamano indicated that she does not anticipate the royal family becoming involved in the situation, citing the complicated relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan and the Palace's potential reluctance to engage in matters concerning Meghan's father.
