Prince William 'Incandescent with Anger' at Prince Harry, Deepening Royal Rift
Piers Morgan suggests Prince William is unwilling to reunite with his brother for a documentary about their late mother, Princess Diana.
Prince William is reportedly "incandescent with anger" regarding Prince Harry's public criticisms of the royal family, making any potential reunion for a documentary about their late mother, Princess Diana, highly unlikely. This sentiment, voiced by broadcaster Piers Morgan, highlights the deepening rift between the brothers.
"Well, they don't speak to each other and haven't done so for years," Morgan told Fox News Digital. He elaborated that William is upset about Harry's actions, including "writing books, doing Netflix documentary shows, doing podcasts, always dumping on the family and attacking his wife, Catherine, attacking Camilla, attacking King Charles."
Morgan expressed his sympathies with Prince William, describing him as "a thoroughly honorable, decent young man who's just had it with his brother and wants nothing to do with him."
Several royal experts have previously indicated that the brothers have not been on speaking terms since 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Reports suggest that Prince William has declined multiple offers to participate in or create documentaries about Princess Diana, partly to avoid further conflict with his younger brother. According to The Times, William views his public tributes marking the 20th anniversary of Diana's death as his public "catharsis."
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is exploring various projects to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death on August 31, 2027. While multiple ideas are under consideration, no specific documentary has been finalized. Harry has reportedly been in touch with family members and friends connected to his late mother.
Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner noted that while Harry and Meghan have maintained a lower public profile, the Prince and Princess of Wales have been actively engaged in royal duties. Turner suggested that the estrangement between the brothers has left their father, King Charles III, in a difficult position.
Friends of Prince William told The Times that the upcoming anniversary is a "difficult situation for him" and that he remains emotional about his mother's passing. William has also reportedly found his uncle Charles Spencer's recent memoir, "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister," to be difficult, particularly as he was not given much advance notice about the book.
William and Harry previously collaborated on projects honoring their mother for the 20th anniversary of her death in 2017. During a screening of the ITV documentary "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy," William stated, "We won't speak as openly or publicly about her again."
Prince William was 15 and Prince Harry was 12 when their mother died in 1997. Harry has spoken extensively about the impact of her death, recalling in his 2023 memoir "Spare" the profound grief he experienced during her funeral. He expressed a desire for reconciliation with his family, stating in a 2025 BBC interview, "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has."
Friends of William believe he is likely to observe the 30th anniversary of his mother's death privately.
