Prince William Distances Himself from Prince Harry Amid 'Rolling Sussex Narrative'

Prince William has largely distanced himself from his brother, Prince Harry, as the royal family grows concerned over a "rolling Sussex narrative," according to royal insider Kinsey Schofield. The sentiment comes after reports surfaced that Harry and Meghan Markle had withdrawn their children from a new UK preparatory school just two days into the term, citing security concerns.

Schofield, host of the "Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered" podcast, suggested that the Sussexes' presence consistently generates "noise and distraction." She pointed to recent events, including Harry's unsuccessful push for taxpayer-funded police protection and King Charles III's public clarification of the Sussexes' non-working royal status, as examples of ongoing controversies. The recent school change, which garnered significant media attention, is seen by Schofield as further evidence of a pattern the Royal Family has tried to move beyond.

"At this stage, I think he has largely washed his hands of the situation," Schofield stated regarding Prince William. "He has his own family to protect and his responsibilities as Prince of Wales."

Schofield contrasted the approach of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, with that of Harry and Meghan. While William and Kate are focused on providing stability for their children, including Prince George's new chapter at Eton College, Schofield believes William sees the Sussexes' drama as an "unwelcome distraction."

According to Schofield, William, 44, feels that firmer boundaries should have been established with Harry and Meghan much earlier. He reportedly has no desire to be drawn into responding to every grievance or controversy from his brother and sister-in-law.

The dynamic between the brothers' relationships with their father, King Charles, and William is also noted as different. "Charles is still Harry’s father and there will always be an emotional component to that relationship," Schofield explained. "William can afford to be much more pragmatic. From his perspective, I suspect the boundaries are already established and Harry’s choices, and the consequences of those choices, are now Harry’s responsibility."

A representative for the Sussexes confirmed that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, were moved from their school due to security concerns, which were exacerbated by traffic and the impractical distance from their residence. A source close to the couple told Hello! Magazine that they "absolutely adored the school" and "really wanted to make it work," but the security team could not guarantee operational safety for the school run.

Archie and Lilibet have since been enrolled in a nearby school. Page Six previously reported that the children had initially been enrolled in a private school with an annual tuition exceeding $35,000.

Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45, moved back to the UK on August 26 for what was described as an "extended period," with sources indicating a desire for their children to be closer to King Charles, who revealed his cancer diagnosis in 2024. The King was informed of their move days before the news became public.

Reports also indicate that the brothers remain not on speaking terms, despite Harry's return to his home country. The Sussexes reportedly chartered a six-figure private jet from their Montecito mansion to the UK.
