Prince William participated in the DMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup held at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park, Berkshire. The event marked a rare occasion for the Prince to engage in the sport due to his extensive commitments and busy schedule.
Commentator Karl Ude Martinez highlighted the Royal Family's long-standing connection to polo, noting that William's father, King Charles, and grandfather, Prince Philip, were accomplished players. "They've played for many, many generations and it is something that is very close to their heart," Martinez remarked.
Martinez added that while William has played for many years, his royal duties often prevent him from participating frequently. "He doesn't get time to play at all, really, because of his commitments and his busy schedule," he said. "To have him here today to play is truly a very, very rare occasion."
William's team for the match included former England captain Mark Tomlinson and Saudi businessman Amr Zedan.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, was in attendance to support William during the match.
Commentators previously noted that both Prince William and the Duke of Sussex used to compete together in polo matches. The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, played polo for many years and competed in numerous significant tournaments. This long-standing family tradition underscores the sport's significance to the Royal Family.
