Prince William and Kate Middleton Attend 'Digger' Premiere Alongside Tom Cruise

The Prince and Princess of Wales graced the red carpet at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square on Tuesday for the world premiere of the new satirical black comedy film 'Digger.' They joined actor Tom Cruise, who stars in the film as a wealthy oil tycoon.

Princess Kate wore a flowing purple gown, complemented by a love heart necklace and pearl drop earrings. Prince William was dressed in black tie. This event marked a reunion for the couple and Cruise, who previously met at the UK premiere of 'Top Gun: Maverick' in May 2022.

Cruise expressed his admiration for the royal couple, stating, "I just love them. They are lovely people and I have great respect for them." He also noted shared interests with Prince William, including a mutual love for England and aviation, as both are aviators. Cruise had previously organized a special screening of 'Top Gun: Maverick' for the Prince's family after learning of William's admiration for the original 1986 film.

The premiere was hosted by Warner Bros and held in support of the Film and TV Charity, an organization dedicated to providing assistance to individuals within the film, television, and cinema industries. This includes offering a 24/7 helpline, free counseling, and financial grants to those working behind the scenes.

'Digger' centers on a character who, after causing an environmental disaster, endeavors to present himself as the sole savior. The film was shot at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

The Prince of Wales, who also serves as president of BAFTA, has been vocal about his commitment to championing the British cinema industry. His attendance at the premiere followed a visit to the ActOne community cinema in Acton, West London, where he interacted with local filmmakers and engaged with the community. This initiative highlights the importance of grassroots organizations in fostering opportunities for young people in the industry.

The Royal Film Performance tradition dates back to 1946 with the premiere of 'A Matter Of Life And Death.' This year's event marked the 73rd performance in the organization's history. Last year's Royal Film Performance was the premiere of 'Gladiator II,' attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla.
