Prince Louis, eight, was a notable presence at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, drawing attention with his animated behavior and interactions while seated with his family in the stands. He joined his parents, Prince William and Kate, along with siblings Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince George, 13, for a day of sporting events in Glasgow.
During the proceedings at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Louis was seen grinning and sporting a Welsh cycling hat that read 'Beicio Cymru,' or Welsh Cycling. His engagement with the netball semi-finals also appeared animated. These moments, captured during what was described as a rare public appearance for the young prince, prompted a wave of positive reactions on social media, with many fans praising his lighthearted nature and describing him as "adorable" and a "little character."
This appearance contrasted with his behavior at the Royal Family's Easter Sunday Service in April, where he was noted for appearing more composed. Dressed in a suit, he stayed close to his parents and waved alongside his sister, leading some observers to comment on how "grown up" he seemed.
Prince Louis has previously captured public attention with his memorable moments at royal events. At the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, then four years old, he was observed covering his ears during a flyover and was guided by his sister Princess Charlotte. Images of his varied moods during that event circulated widely, with many finding his expressions relatable.
In 2024, during Trooping the Colour, Princess Charlotte again appeared to guide her younger brother, instructing him to stand straight on the Buckingham Palace balcony and to cease dancing at a window. Earlier this year, Prince Louis also expressed visible delight when a fan presented him with a large box of chocolates after a Christmas church service at Sandringham.
For the Commonwealth Games, the children were dressed smartly. George and Louis wore Ralph Lauren linen shirts, chino trousers, and belts, with George also sporting Tod's loafers and a Garmin watch. Charlotte wore a dress from Guess and Pretty Ballerinas flats. Kate, the Princess of Wales, wore a striped jumper, a white pleated skirt, and a green double-breasted blazer from Ralph Lauren. William and Kate, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, also met with Team Wales athletes and their families. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis shared their favorite sports during these conversations. When asked if he would like to see his parents participate in a tandem event, Prince George responded with a quick "no."
