King Charles III has reportedly invited his son, Prince Harry, to stay at Buckingham Palace during the Duke of Sussex's upcoming visit to the United Kingdom in September. This alleged offer of accommodation comes after a previous invitation to stay at a royal residence was withdrawn at the last moment, according to reports.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to visit his homeland for engagements related to charities close to his heart. The invitation to stay at the palace is seen by some as an "olive branch" following a recent reunion between King Charles III and Prince Harry, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, at Highgrove House on July 10. This was the first time the children had seen their grandfather in four years.

However, the family's trip to England earlier in July faced obstacles, including initial concerns over taxpayer-funded security for Markle and their children. The couple lost their royal security privileges in 2020 after stepping down from their duties.

Reports indicate that Prince Harry had formally accepted an offer to stay at a royal residence for his July visit, but the invitation was subsequently withdrawn. A representative for the Duke of Sussex stated that the decision was "disappointing" and the reasoning for its withdrawal was "unclear." The representative explained that after the RAVEC decision not to provide security for his family, Harry spent the week making alternative security arrangements. Once these arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself. The withdrawal of this offer, according to the representative, was a source of disappointment.

During the July reunion between Charles and Harry, Queen Camilla was present. Royal writer Robert Jobson told Page Six that the Queen's presence was to ensure the meeting was witnessed.
